The trustees of the Greater Montana Foundation invite you to a news conference and working lunch discussion to examine the results of the Montanans’ Internet News Sources and Use Survey. This 2016 survey followed last year’s effort, when GMF commissioned the first-of-its-kind statewide survey. Conducted this fall by the Bureau of Business and Economic Research at the University of Montana, the survey follows last year’s unique look at the issues Montanans consider most important and how they get news about them. This year’s effort re-tested the issues work done previously and dug deeper into how Montanans use the internet for news consumption. It provides valuable insight into these important questions for Montana citizens and communications professionals in the private, nonprofit and government sectors: How much and how often do Montanans use the internet to get their news? What are the specific news sources that Montanans access online? How do Montanans use social media in getting the news they want — and in sharing news they believe to be important?
